UN World Food Programme buys Kazakh flour for Tajikistan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - JSC "Tsesna-Astyk" concern" entered into an agreement with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) for the supply of flour to Tajikistan. The contract amounts to more than 27 million tenge, the press service of KAZNEX INVEST National agency for export and investment informs.

Over the past three years, more than 15 companies have supplied products totaling about $85 million to the humanitarian market. "In 2012 WFP inspected 10 enterprises of Kazakhstan on the initiative of KAZNEX INVEST. 4 of them were selected by following generally accepted requirements for suppliers. In early 2014 our company got access to tenders of the global organization which buys about 4 million tons of food annually," explained director of KAZNEX INVEST office in Almaty Sabit Narbayev. The market of humanitarian supplies is big international business which annual turnover is estimated at $ 15 billion. The market's capacity offers opportunities for Kazakh enterprises. Humanitarian organizations (WFP, UNICEF, UNHCR, the Red Cross, the Red Crescent and others) acquire variety of products ranging from food to engineering materials. World Food Programme - is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and the world's largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security. WFP was founded in 1963.
