ASTANA. February 9. KAZINFORM Leading international business and consultancy company The Business Year (TBY) and the Committee on Investments (CI) of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan have signed a partnership agreement aimed at increasing international awareness of the business opportunities in Kazakhstan, and upping FDI flows into the economy. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Astana by Mr. Asylkhan Serikov, Chairman of the CI, and Ms. Peggy Rosiak, Country Director of TBY.

"I am very happy to promote investment opportunities in Kazakhstan through such a comprehensive study targeted for worldwide readership. I believe this study will increase the visibility of Kazakhstan in international business circles and show that Kazakhstan has a lot to offer to investors abroad," said Mr. Asylkhan Serikov at the signing ceremony. Ms. Peggy Rosiak expressed her pleasure to work in Kazakhstan, and said that, "Kazakhstan has shown its resilience and is now well on the way to being a leading economy in the CIS region in the new decade as a result of the government's successful economic restructuring policies and the rapid increase in foreign investor interest in the potentials the Kazakh market has to offer."

According to the partnership arrangement, The Business Year team will spend five to six months in Kazakhstan to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the Kazakh economy. The research will focus on all the major sectors of the country's economy including finance, industry, energy, ICT, transport, real estate and construction, health and education, as well as tourism and agriculture.

The TBY team will conduct more than 200 face-to-face interviews with Kazakhstan's top decision makers to better understand and more accurately reflect the country's business sentiment.

The research will be published under the title The Business Year: Kazakhstan 2011, which will be one of the most comprehensive reviews of the Kazakh economy published internationally. The target readership of the publication includes top executives, policy makers, and media representatives all around the world.

The initial demand for The Business Year: Kazakhstan 2011 reflects the deficit of business information on Kazakhstan. Although the publication is to be released in the second half of 2011, more than 80,000 copies have already been preordered, a press release of The Business Year reads.
