Serik Akhmetov proposed as candidate for Kazakh Prime Minister

 ASTANA. September 24. KAZINFORM Today, Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has introduced the candidature of Serik Akhmetov for the Prime Minister's post.

Serik Nygmetovich Akhmetov was born in 1958 in Karaganda region.

Akhmetov has served as the Minister of Transport and Communication in the Government of Kazakhstan since President Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed him on 25 September 2006. Akhmetov previously served as Deputy Mayor of Astana. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Atameken National Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Kazakhstan since 2005.

Since January 2012 until the present Serik Akhmetov has worked as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

Akhmetov has a wife, two children, two grandchildren.
