TANA. November 18. KAZINFORM A conference devoted to the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence took place in Sofia, the Kazakh MFA's press service said.

Those attending were deputies of the Bulgarian Parliament, heads of state executive bodies, reps of scientific intelligentsia, businessmen and public figures, clergy, media, diplomatic corps and Kazakh Diaspora.

Kazakh Charge d'Affaires to Bulgaria Temirtai Izbastin told about the formation and development of Kazakhstan, celebration of the 20th anniversary of the country's independence, state and prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and Bulgaria.

Chair of the Atlantic Club, ex-Foreign Affairs Minister of Bulgaria Solomon Passi noted, Kazakhstan was one of the first countries outside the NATO and EU area of responsibility to decisively announce its intention to preside over the OSCE. The OSCE Summit in Astana proved its solvency and efficiency in dealing with global problems.

Well-known Bulgarian political analyst, Professor Tatiana Dronzina told about the Kazakh educational system development and the President's Bolashak Scholarship Programme.

The gathered debated a wide range of topical issues in the areas of economy, tourism, culture and sport. As stated there, political and economic success of Kazakhstan and international authority of Kazakh Leader Nursultan Nazarbayev lay for the foundation for further expansion and deepening of multilateral Kazakh-Bulgarian cooperation.

"The world about President Nursultan Nazarbayev" film was featured there. Besides, the guests got familiarized with the article by Kazakh FM Yerzhan Kazykhanov about the country's 20th anniversary of independence.
