ALMATY. KAZINFORM "The dear land" photo exhibition dedicated to the nomadic tribes of Central Asia and North America opened Wednesday at the Kasteyev State Museum of Arts in Almaty.

"It is a unique photo exhibition, devoted to the indigenous people of Central Asia and North America known for their nomadic traditions. 80 historic works from the Turkestan Album collection (1871-1872) made to order of governor general of Turkestan Konstantin fon Kaufman and North American Indian project by Edward Curtis(1900-1930) are displayed there," deputy director of the museum Svetlana Kobjanoa said. According to her, the exhibition is a so-called bridge which links for the first time ever the two impressive, unique and well-preserved photo collections belonging to the US Congress Library. This event designates another common point of common interest for tuning up an interethnic dialogue, inspired by the pictures of the past and drawing a parallel between the different cultures.
