New passenger terminal of Astana airport with of 7.5 mln people capacity

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A new passenger terminal of the Astana airport will have the territory of 45 thousand sq meters and be capable of providing services to about 7.5 million passengers a year, head of the board of "International Astana Airport" JSC Kairat Zhaukhanov said at the CCS media briefing.

"As of now, the existing terminal is extremely outdated and does not meet the requirements with its passenger traffic of three million people a year. Its current territory is 22 thousand sq meters. Speaking of a new terminal, it is planned to be built by the beginning of the EXPO in Astana and its territory is expected to be about 45 thousand sq meters," he said.

According to him, the capacity of a new terminal will reach 7.5 million passengers a year. KZT 29 bln was allocated from the National Fund for reconstruction of the terminal. Besides, additional funds will be allocated later as well as other resources involved.
