ASTANA. KAZINFORM President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met with participants of the 37th sitting of the council of heads of security agencies of CIS member states, the Akorda press service said.

Those attending focused on strengthening cooperation of CIS security bodies ad special services, including combating terrorism and extremism. "We face new challenges today, stepping up of terrorist organizations. Coordination of operations of national security agencies and special services is of great concern under these circumstances," the Head of State said. The President also stressed importance of security issues within the Customs Union. "Borders became transparent, trespassers may easily cross them. To this end your joint activities, information support are of invaluable importance," the Head of State said. Nursultan Nazarbayev also stressed that adherence to equality of rights of all citizens and steady socioeconomic development lay the foundation for stable and secure society. "We see now new challenges approaching due to the world economic difficulties and developments in Ukraine. The countries should take measures, first of all, internal. It is crucial to increase domestic investments. For the past five years of the country's industrial and innovation development, Kazakhstan built above 800 new enterprises, created more workplaces. All of this brings positive economic effect, reducing the country's dependence on oil and gas and other resources. The country will focus on its innovation development in the next five years to come," the Head of State said.
