Nazarbayev: EXPO-2017 to be golden chapter in Kazakhstan's history

 ASTANA. December 6. KAZINFORM Kazakh President addressed the nation in relation to the decision on holding EXPO-2017 international exhibition  in Astana, the press service of Akorda reported.

"As you know, Kazakhstan won the right to host International specialized exhibition "EXPO-2017" in Astana. We have defeated a strong contender, the Belgian city of Liege, who already had experience of hosting an international forum. This is a great success for Kazakhstan.

"Expo" is a global event comparable in importance to the World Economic Forum.

For more than 160 years international exhibitions are mainly held in the countries that are considered economic giants - the U.S., France, Germany, Japan, Brazil, and Canada, the UK, Spain, China and so on.

Most of 160 BIE member states voted for Astana. The majority of the member states elected our country.  

"Expo-2017" is, at the same time, a huge responsibility for Kazakhstan. We cannot let the world down.

I believe Expo-2017 will be another golden chapter in the history of our country," the President said.
