In 1921, the Turkestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic issued the Decree to rename the city of Verny to Alma-Ata (now Almaty).

In 1980, Qazaqstan Pioneri newspaper and Partiynaya Zhizn Kazakhstana magazine were awarded the Order of Badge of Honor and the Order of Friendship of Peoples.

In 1994, the Kazakh State Law Institute was established. On 5th November 1996, the institute was reorganized into the Kazakh State Law University. On 24th October 2001, it was reorganized into the Kazakh Humanities and Law University (KAZGUU University).

In 2004, the Center for Astrophysical Research was established in Kazakhstan. On 22nd January 2008, it was reorganized into National Center for Space Research and Technologies JSC. The center consists of four academic institutes that deal with space research, development, production, and economic activities.

In 2011, a Kazakh film (Who Are You, Mister Ka?) was screened for the first time at "The Ambassador's Choice" international film festival in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The same day, the Historical and Ethnographic Museum of Ekibastuz hosted an exhibition dedicated to Marat Zhylanbayev, a marathon runner, who crossed the largest deserts of Africa, Asia, America, and Australia. The exhibits included photographs, and the athlete's medals and the Guinness World Record certificate.

In 2013, Kazakhstan's violin virtuoso Marat Bisengaliev received the Elgar Proliferation Award for his contribution to the heritage of the British composer Sir Edward Elgar. The award was presented to the world-famous musician at the Kazakh Embassy in Paris, France.

In 2014, Kazakhstan's Kazinform International News Agency presented a Chinese-language version of its website via an online video conference to Beijing. The Chinese version is to greatly contribute to the development of political, economic, social and humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and China.
