U. February 1. KAZINFORM /Arnur Mukhametkarim/ On January 31, 2011 President of Kazakhstan announced his decision to cancel the referendum in his online address to the people of the country. Undoubtedly, this decision taken

by the Kazakh President demonstrates his firm adherence to the principles and values of democracy, strict observance and respect for the Constitution of Kazakhstan. Renowned Azerbaijani expert, Head of 'Third Opinion' Information Analytical Agency Rauf Rajabov considers so.

"As the President of the country and being the guarantor of the Constitution, Nursultan Nazarbayev does not want to create a precedent that will set "wrong targets for the next generation of politicians".

"In my opinion, in the past two months the authoritative mass media both in Kazakhstan and abroad actively debated the idea on the referendum and stated that the President had two ways: to subordinate morality to politics (as it is often done in the post-Soviet space) or to subordinate politics to morality", Rauf Rajabov said.

"I can state that N. Nazarbayev has combined politics with morality, since a wise politician, patriot and statesman only conforms all his political, social decisions and actions with the norms of morality. The President of Kazakhstan has proved that the true unity of morality and politics is possible only on the basis of law which is guaranteed by democracy and liberalism of the country's social life.

The analysis of the processes in the world shows that the current generation of the politicians faces difficulties with morality, because there are too many temptations to date for the people staying in power. N. Nazarbayev taught a good lesson for many of them", he added.

"Those leaders indifferent to moral and cultural values can not be respected and trusted by its nation. Therefore, the axiom "a strong president must rule his country as long as possible, while a weak one - as less as possible" is as more relevant as never in public-political and socio-economic life of Kazakhstan to date", Rauf Rajabov noted.

"I am confident, that the multi-national and multi-religious Kazakhstan will worthily assess the civil position of N. Nazarbayev at the forthcoming early presidential election", the expert stressed upon completion of the interview.
