Kazakh President meets with American economist Jeremy Rifkin

ASTANA. October 22. KAZINFORM President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with a renowned American economic theorist Jeremy Rifkin in the Akorda presidential residence, the president's press service reports.

During the meeting, the sides focused on the state and prospects of Kazakhstan's industrialization, development of "green economy" in the country and relevant aspects of the global financial and economic system.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that currently the international community displays great interest in the next stage of the industrial development in the world.

"With the help of "EXPO-2017" event, we plan to make further steps in that direction as well. We want to build up our potential and map out further development strategy," the Head of State said.

Mr. Rifkin, in his turn, thanked the Kazakh leader for the meeting and especially noted Astana's potential. He invited Kazakhstan to be an active participant of the Third Industrial Revolution that would allow to introduce new technologies in the country and make Kazakhstan the leader in the Asian region and on the global scale. The American economist also informed that Kazakhstan's initiative - the "Green Bridge" Partnership Program aimed at formation of sustainable "green economy" has generated intense public interest in many countries.

In addition, the interlocutors touched upon the upcoming International specialized exhibition "EXPO-2017" and the ideas that will be offered within the event and that can be implemented in Kazakhstan.
