ASTANA. February 4. KAZINFORM President of Kazakhstan demonstrated the world community what steps should be taken in the issues concerning democracy. President of the European office of "PEACE through CULTURE" Association, Director of the Institute for Ethics in Politics and Economy Wilhelm Augustat said in his official statement addressed to the Kazakh Embassy in Austria.

He cited U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Public Affairs Philip Crowley who said that the leadership of Kazakhstan made the right decision not to hold the referendum.

According to Wilhelm Augustat, the President of Kazakhstan voluntarily rejected the proposal of the majority of population to extend his powers by 10 years, making the only right decision in favor of democracy. N.Nazarbayev expressed readiness to shorten the term of office for two years and participate in new elections in 2011. "This approach to solving the problem is unique", W.Augustat noted.

Dynamically developing Kazakhstan and its self-sacrificing President as well as the people of the country with their diverse ethnic and cultural structure draw sympathy and admiration in many parts of the world.

W.Augustat emphasized that laying the foundation of democracy the President of Kazakhstan surpassed the European standards and initiated the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan which was given the right to take part in making decisions regarding political, cultural and social activities of the country. "In this context, President Nursultan Nazarbayev is recognized as a Confessor, relatively young "Patriarch", highly experienced spiritual leader who excellently governs his people both inside the country and in the world arena. I believe, many Central Asian countries including Russia and China will successively take their lead from Kazakhstan", the Austrian official noted.

"The President of Kazakhstan is a wise, highly experienced leader with a great future. In last 20 years he took the responsibility for all decisions made and demonstrated in the recent statement his readiness to further serve the people of Kazakhstan", W.Augustat said.
