Kazakh Foreign Minister held talks with Belgian PM in Brussels

USSELS. July 19. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ During his visit to Brussels Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov held a meeting with Prime Minister of Belgium Yves Leterme to discuss a wide array of topics concerning bilateral relations.

Kazykhanov gave Mr. Yves Leterme a congratulations letter from President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed to the King of the Belgians Albert II on the occasion of the upcoming Belgium's National Day, which is celebrated on July 21. In addition to congratulations the letter covers Kazakhstan's approaches to the development of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister of Belgium described the Kazakh-Belgian relations as very intense, and reminded of the last year's visit of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Belgium and Yves Leterme's visit to Kazakhstan for the December OSCE Summit in Astana. "I was impressed by the dynamism and striving for constant improvement and development in Kazakhstan," the Premier noted.

The sides stressed that the countries still did not realize a full potential of economic cooperation. They also considered the issues of nuclear energy, and discussed Kazakhstan's initiatives on nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament.

It was noted that Kazakhstan was planning to cancel visa requirements for citizens of 34 countries included in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Currently, the Government of Kazakhstan is working on it on the instruction of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
