EVENTS

On January 3, 1992, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China signed the Joint Communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations. The sides also inked the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding.

A memorial plaque dedicated to Hero of the Soviet Union Makhmet Kairbayev was unveiled in Pavlodar on January 3, 2005. He became the Hero of the Soviet Union at the age of 19 in 1944.

A novel Belaya aruana by well-known Kazakh writer and laureate of the Mikhail Sholokhov International Prize Sabit Dossanov was published in French in Paris on January 3 in 2007.

A unique CD called Moj Kazachstan (My Kazakhstan) was released in Warsaw on January 3, 2008. The CD contained 142 slides with photos and information about Kazakhstan's cultural heritage, historical monuments, writers, composers, President Nazarbayev's international meetings, Astana and Almaty. It also featured 22 slides about economic policy, state of Kazakhstan's economy, investment priorities and innovative projects implemented in Kazakhstan.

On January 3, 2012, a DVD titled The Anthology of Kazakh cinematography consisting of feature films made by Kazakhstani directors in 1960s - 2012 was released.

An exhibition of unique butterflies was unveiled in Shymkent on January 3, 2013. Butterflies from the Philippines and Costa Rica were displayed at the exhibition.
