ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazinform's Timeline is the one-stop shop where you can learn about historical events for the 7th of December. See what notable events happened throughout Kazakhstan's history on December 7.


In 1963, a bronze monument commemorating Dzhambyl Dzhabayev, a national akyn (improvising poet and singer), was unveiled in Taraz town.

In 2005, the celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held for the first time in the German cities of Stuttgart and Munich. It was arranged by the Kazakh Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany and the honorary consuls of Kazakhstan in the federal states of Bad-Württemberg and Bavaria. The event included "Dalanyn Ghasyrlar Uni" concert performed by a folk music group from Kazakhstan.

In 2010, World Youth about Kazakhstan, a new documentary film dedicated to the Independence Day of Kazakhstan and its first President Nursultan Nazarbayev, was created. It shows what foreign youth know about our country and the activities of the Head of Kazakhstan. Young people from around the globe including the United States, Austria, Italy, India, Spain, South Korea, Switzerland, etc. took part in the film. Archival materials about Nursultan Nazarbayev's activities in various years of his life were used to make the film.

In 2011, Mukhamet-Umar Panshaev, an artist from Taraz, was awarded a Certificate of Honor of the Province of Shaanxi of China in Xian for the substantial contribution to the development of the Kazakh-Chinese cultural relations. Mukhamet-Umar Panshaev is the author of paintings devoted to the history and everyday life of the Dungan people living in Kazakhstan. He created a series of paintings about the origin of the Dungan ("Persian Series", "Arab Series"). The artist's works are exhibited in museums of art and are in private collections of citizens of Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Russia, and other countries.

The same day the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation provided the Kazakh Defense Ministry with an electronic data bank about soldiers killed and missing in the Great Patriotic War, who were recruited throughout our country. The electronic data were taken from the official archival records of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and the Military Memorial Center of the Russian Armed Forces. The resource book contains information on over 587,000 Kazakhstanis and is available on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan (

The headquarters of the international movement G-Global was organized at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in 2012. The G-Global Internet platform was established in 2012 upon the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. The movement presently unites over 30,000 users from 150 countries of the world. On the website, anyone can propose anti-recessionary measures addressing many social and economic issues.

In 2013, the Kazakh Embassy in Turkey arranged airing of The Sky of My Childhood, a film about the childhood and youth of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, on the top Turkish TV channels - "TRT" and "24TV".

Kazakh singer Farkhad Madenov won the 12th International Contest "Douainimigemene" held in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, in 2014. Farkhad Madenov from Astana represented Kazakhstan at various international contests before. In June 2014, he was bestowed "Golden Voice of Kazakhstan" honorary title. In addition, Farkhad is the winner of the 19th International Music Contest of Young Singers "Crystal Magnolia" in Las Vegas.

In 2015, Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Astana International Financial Centre" in the furtherance of the National Plan - 100 Specific Steps for implementation of five institutional reforms. It is aimed at defining the status and operating standards of the Astana International Financial Centre.

The same day The Language of Writing, a book by Olzhas Suleimenov translated into Italian, was published. The author presented his book at the annual book fair in Rome which brought together hundreds of publishers and writers. He told that he had started writing the book 17 years ago in Rome when he was serving as the Kazakh Ambassador to Italy.

In 2016, the official opening of the Kashagan oilfield took place in Atyrau. Kashagan has been the first offshore oil and gas field in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea and the largest international investment project in the country.

The same day The Eagle Huntress, a documentary about a teenage girl Aisholpan Nurgaiv from the nomad Kazakh minority living in Mongolia, has been shortlisted for the best feature documentary Oscar along with other 14 finalists. Otto Bell's inspiring portrayal of the true story of Aisholpan, the first female in twelve generations of her Kazakh family trying to become an eagle hunter.

Besides, that very day, 7th December 2016, the Kazakh team won 6 gold, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze one at the Central Asia Youth Climbing Championship held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Climbers of three age groups(14-15, 12-13, 11 years old and younger) from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan competed there.
