EVENTS 

On December 20, 1923, the Central Executive Committee of the Kazakh SSR adopted a resolution on the transition to the Latinized script.

In 1954, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR, the working settlement of Greater Jezkazgan was renamed into the city of Jezkazgan.

Sultan Khodzhikov's legendary film Kyz-Zhibek premiered on this day in 1970.

The film is based on a Kazakh epic poem about the tragic love of young man and woman who belong to two feuding Kazakh tribes.

The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan On the Citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan was adopted on December 20, 1991.

JSC AZIA AVTO was established and registered on this day in 2002. The company's headquarters and car assembly plant are located in the capital of East Kazakhstan, the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. AZIA AVTO has branches enterprise in all major cities of Kazakhstan.

On December 20, 2013, Kazakh diplomats in the United Arab Emirates moved into a new multi-apartment complex in Abu Dhabi.

The residential complex for employees of the Kazakh embassy is located in the area of Abu Dhabi - a town named after Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. By a special order of the UAE authorities, the land under the residential complex was transferred to the Kazakh side on a no-cost basis.

On December 20, 2013, Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe signed the Joint Declaration on enhancing cooperation

Kazakhstan is the first country in Central Asia to sign such a declaration with the Council of Europe. The signing of this document is an important step to further intensify cooperation and create the necessary conditions for Kazakhstan to join the Council of Europe conventions in the field of criminal justice.

The Kazakh Eli alley was opened in the Karmakshi district of Kyzylorda region on December 20, 2015.

Monuments to Kazakh khans and elders, biys and batyrs installed on in the alley. A separate plaque is dedicated to the works of representatives of non-indigenous nationalities who contributed to the formation of Kazakh state.
