ASTANA. May 24. KAZINFORM - Common Economic Commission (ECE) has developed a trademark agreement by analogy with the EU Community Trademark. This has been stated today during a panel session on "The protection of intellectual property on the Internet: Challenges and Prospects", which is being held in the framework of the VI Astana Economic Forum by the CEC Minister for Economy and Financial Policy Timur Suleimenov.

"We have prepared and will shortly submit to the deputy prime ministers and then to the level of the Heads of State "On Trademarks" Treaty. This is a major contract, which is similar to the European Union Community Trademark introducing the term "trademark" of the Eurasian economic space. Thus, we get a uniform protection throughout the state and eliminate potential conflicts of which we know, for example, the so-called "Soviet brands," said Timur Suleimenov.

It should be recalled that in the panel session is also attended by representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Union copyright of Central and Eastern Europe, the European branch of Microsoft Corporation, the State Intellectual Property Office of China, the heads of government agencies and the patent offices of the CIS, as well as by the authors and copyright holders.

Participants are discussing challenges in the area of ​​Internet and are engaged in elaboration of proposals to fight crime in this area at the level of international experts.
