EVENTS

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev participated in the unveiling ceremony of the new building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana on April 16, 2005. After cutting the ribbon, the Head of State handed over the national flag of Kazakhstan to then-Foreign Affairs Minister Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

In 2007, Cuban Ambassador to Kazakhstan H.E. Teresita Capote Camacho awarded Kazakhstani writer Rollan Seisenbayev with the Order of Friendship for his contribution to the promotion of Latin American literature as part of the celebrations of 15 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Cuba.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev received the highest award of the China's Olympic Committee in Beijing on April 16, 2009. The award is traditionally presented for the promotion of Olympic movement, sport and healthy lifestyle.

In 2010, Kazakhstan was named as one of the world's top 10 countries with most advanced anti-crisis measures. It even surpassed Japan that year.
Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan who paid the first visit to Kazakhstan in the capacity of Turkey's president on April 16, 2015. Nazarbayev and Erdogan discussed the ways of deepening bilateral ties in trade, investment, industrial, transport and cultural spheres.

In 2017, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev visited the IBM Watson West Center. The visit resulted in the signing of a memorandum between IBM and the Autonomous Cluster Fund "Innovative Technologies Park". As per the memorandum, a laboratory for applied research in financial and ‘smart city' technologies will be created in the Tech Startups Hub in Astana.
