Almaty is best place to establish UN Regional Center - Vuk Jeremic

ASTANA. May 23.KAZINFORM "The United Nations Organization cooperates closely with the Government of Kazakhstan to make Almaty the regional Center of the Organization," President of the United Nations General Assembly Vuk Jeremic said at the first official press conference of the VI Astana Economic Forum.

According to him, Kazakhstan's activity at the international level contributes to Almaty to become a natural area for the UN action.

"I suppose Almaty will be a logic area for holding the UN events in the region. We know that the UN Center is in Vienne, Bangkok, but there is a long distance between them. So the question that has to be answered is where one more hub will be established.. Taking into account Kazakhstan's leadership, the country's participation in international processes and the role the state played in the past, and also the problems facing the world, particularly in Afghanistan, I think it will not be difficult to justify the need for placement of the center of the UN here, " V. Jeremic, said.
